We don't use cookies. They are bad for you (just like the real ones). Here is why. Cookies in browsers were invented in the mid-1990s to store information about user-specific settings on websites. Keeping track of the visitor's shopping cart or login credentials required a solution, and that is what cookies were originally invented for. As the years passed, people started to invent new (exploitative) use cases for cookies without the knowledge or approval of everybody using the internet. User tracking and spying on user behavior across different websites soon became an online trend, with the sole purpose of collecting as much data as possible about every website visitor (without asking their consent or approval). This trend needed to stop, and the European Parliament approved regulations on how websites need to handle user consent about cookie usage. This new regulation (GDPR) resulted in every website being forced to show an annoying cookie consent popup if they still wanted to collect data from each website visitor. Unfortunately, this only resulted in the internet becoming a lot more annoying (cookie popups), but not a hair bit safer when it comes to personal privacy. A few years after GDPR, even bigger corporations like Google realized that the new regulations did not make the problem go away. Cookie consent is bad for user experience, and you only need cookie consent if you use cookies. So the best UX solution to the problem is to simply don't use them. This is why Chrome browsers are deprecating cookies in 2024 and will give out penalties to websites for using third-party cookies. So if you want your website to rank well in the future, forget cookies. With the technologies of today, there is no real need for a website to use cookies for tasks that required them decades ago. So why do you need them? You actually don't. Google Analytics now works without cookies; you don't need identifiably unique per-user data to make good business decisions. Anonymous data is perfectly fine. We don't use cookies because the future of the web is cookie-free. We also encourage you to do the same.
