Gambling Design in and Beyond

Design in the online gambling industry is evolving year by year. We had to wait a long time for it, but around 2015, a brand successfully disrupted gambling with nothing else but design. And some creative ideas.

Why did we have to wait for such a long time for design to slowly get its footing in gambling? The stars aligned and design-driven thinking prevailed at an online gambling brand. That was the start of what we can consider gambling design, a new vision where a modern look and strategically used visual psychology proved that it can make a gambling related brand more successful. A whole list of potential improvements emerged, such as modern UI, gamification (leaderboards, achievements), responsive layouts, data analysis (heatmaps, and UX reports), UX strategies, and several in-game improvements to keep players engaged. It was a time when there was nothing else to do but to follow a checklist to become successful if you were fast enough to respond.

After seeing an unexpected success story, many brands started to look at their product and feel the need to reinvent themselves with a new look and new features. There was never as much need for gambling design with a modern vision as when that happened, and that is the time when the first thought of a creative agency tailored for online gambling businesses was born. Although regulators put some barriers to the renewal of the industry, that mostly targeted the excessive gambling caused by gamification. The idea of doing better and improving on several areas at the same time was already born, and what stayed with us from that era is the rethinking of what can work in gambling design.

Not many gambling brands follow what happens in the world of design at the highest levels outside of the gambling industry. Our continous research in design trends and technologies helps our clients elevate their brand, drive engagement and also boost conversion. We know where the world is moving and what comes next, and we help our clients prepare for the years to come. Design is an ever-changing force, and iGS evolves with it. Our first website was a one-pager put together a day before Sigma '18 to be able to show something to potential clients—a new approach to gambling. A year later, a smaller side-scrolling portfolio website was born that won several design awards; a much appreciated recognition from the global design community. It was the first website in the whole gambling industry to win such a prestigious award. In the coming years the list grew longer, and we have got 25 design and development awards and recognitions.

Awards are nice, but what about real results? Our client's brand Bestodds.com was sold for $3.6M soon after its renewal (the domain name is appraised to be worth $85K). You can check out the project at Branding, UX, and App for Best Odds. Another client of ours (Elevated Leads, gambling affiliates) launched CryptoBetting.com which reached the top of search engine result pages after 12 months, surpassing long-established affiliate giants in the process. You can check out the project at Launching CryptoBetting.com. Our long-time client L&L Europe launched an additional 3-4 new casinos since we started renewing all of their existing ones. Success can also be measured with UX metrics, so what we do is not just about your gambling brand looking its best. Studies showed that a UX overhaul can increase completed registrations by 10-50% (in some cases, even more). A new vision for design in the gambling industry is here, and iGaming Studio is here to help ambitious brands.
